Project Background
A pharmaceutical company in Wuhan produced wastewater containing sodium chloride and ammonium chloride during the production process. This type of wastewater has high salinity, high corrosiveness, and contains a small amount of organic impurities. Traditional treatment methods are difficult to effectively handle such wastewater, and they also have problems such as high energy consumption and secondary pollution. In order to achieve efficient wastewater treatment and resource recovery while meeting strict environmental protection requirements, the company introduced the two-effect evaporation crystallization process and selected 2205 duplex stainless steel as the main material for the equipment, ensuring the corrosion resistance and operational stability of the equipment. 
 
Process flow
• Pre-treatment: The wastewater is first subjected to pre-treatment to remove suspended solids, large particles, and some organic substances, and to adjust the pH value, ensuring the stability of the subsequent evaporation process. 
 
• Two-effect evaporation crystallization: The pretreated wastewater is introduced into the two-effect evaporation crystallization system. 
 
• Primary evaporation: The raw steam enters the primary heater to heat and evaporate the wastewater. The resulting secondary steam then enters the secondary stage. 
 
• Two-effect evaporation: The secondary steam continues to heat the wastewater in the second-effect heater, further concentrating the solution, and ultimately causing sodium chloride and ammonium chloride to reach supersaturated conditions and crystallize and precipitate. 
 
• Crystallization and Separation: The salt after crystallization is separated by centrifugation or filtration, resulting in high-purity sodium chloride and ammonium chloride crystals, which can be recycled and reused as industrial raw materials. 
 
• Condensation and Reuse: The condensate water generated during the evaporation process is treated and then reused in the production process, achieving the recycling of water resources and reducing wastewater discharge. 
 
Technical advantages
• High efficiency and energy conservation: The two-effect evaporation process effectively utilizes the residual heat of steam multiple times, significantly reducing energy consumption. Compared to the traditional single-effect evaporation process, energy savings can reach 30% to 50%. 
 
• High-concentration crystallization: By precisely controlling the evaporation temperature and concentration, sodium chloride and ammonium chloride are eventually concentrated to saturation and crystallize and precipitate, achieving resource recovery. 
 
• Strong corrosion resistance: The main body is made of 2205 duplex stainless steel, which has excellent corrosion resistance and high-temperature resistance. It is suitable for the production environment of high-salt wastewater and can extend the service life of the equipment.
